Luka Doncic felt woke up feeling dangerous on Sunday and proceeded to torch the Argentinian national team in group play of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics men’s basketball tournament. Doncic was in no mood to show any diplomacy to his defenders against Argentina, as the Dallas Mavericks golden boy scored 48 points on 18-of-29 shooting from the field, including six threes on 14 attempts, to lead Slovenia to a 118-100 victory.

That was as good of a game as Slovenia could have expected in just its first appearance in Olympics basketball. Doncic was in his bag of tricks all game long and nothing could underscore more the fact that he was in the zone than the multiple step-back 3-point shots that he drained in the contest.

Doncic did not just get buckets, though. He also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out five assists. The man even played superb defense, as he swatted away three shots. Helping Doncic get the first win in the Olympics for Slovenia was Mike Tobey, who had 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Vlatko Cančar contributed 12 points, five rebounds, and a couple of steals.

Beating Argentina is definitely a fantastic way for Slovenia to announce its presence in Japan. Speaking of which, Doncic and company will face the Japanese on Wednesday.
