Since taking over as President of Basketball Operations for the Philadelphia 76ers, Daryl Morey has made a plethora of moves to revamp the roster around the team's stars. Of all the moves he has made, one stands out as a drastic upgrade to the supporting cast.

Draft day 2020 was a busy day for Morey and the Sixers. Not only did they draft three players, but swung a pair of much-needed trades as well.

Towards the end of the first round, news broke of a trade between the Sixers and Dallas Mavericks. Sharpshooting guard Seth Curry was on his way to Philly in exchange for Josh Richardson and a second-round pick. This trade was viewed as a win-win for both teams involved, but looks incredibly lop-sided now.

A year after the trade, Richardson already finds himself on a new team. Meanwhile, Curry has become an integral piece for the Sixers.

Most players start to decline as they enter their thirties, but that has not been the case for Curry. Since coming to Philly, he has posted some of the best numbers of his career. So far this season, he is averaging a career-high 15.9 points per game while connecting on 41.1% of his threes.

Many expected Curry's fit on the Sixers to be seamless, and the results speak for themselves. His efficient shooting from beyond the arc has provided an element to the offense the team hasn't had since J.J. Redick left in free agency.

Recently, Curry sat down with Michael Scotto of HoopsHype to discuss an array of topics. Among the things discussed were Curry's long-term plans in the NBA. It was there the 31-year-old mentioned he hopes his tenure in Philadelphia does not end anytime soon.

“I hope so, but I thought I’d be in Dallas for a long time, too, so you never know. It’s a crazy business,” Curry said. “Things change fast. As a player, you want to be somewhere for a long time. It’s been a great fit. I love the energy in Philly. We’ll see what happens.”

Based on what he's shown thus far, the Sixers should be in no rush to move on from Curry. They still have some time before his contract is up, but retaining him should be a top priority once he enters free agency.

Not only has Curry posted some of his best numbers with the Sixers, but he managed to take his game to new heights when it mattered most. Looking back to last postseason, some might argue he was the Sixers' second-best player behind Joel Embiid. Curry put on a shooting masterclass in the playoffs, setting a new career-high in points twice in the process.

Finding high-quality role players is essential for teams who want to compete for championships. Curry has thrived since coming to Philadelphia, and the team should make he is a key piece for the foreseeable future.
