It has been a horrible past few years for the Baltimore Orioles, and the 2021 season doesn't seem to be different as the team hit three-digit losses once again. However, if there is one silver lining amid the losing record, it's getting to see Ryan Mountcastle show what he can do in the majors.

In fact, during Thursday's game against the New York Yankees that saw the Orioles get a rare win, Mountcastle was phenomenal again after recording his 29th home run of the campaign. In the process, he broke Cal Ripken Jr.'s team record for most home runs by a rookie.

After witnessing the historic feat, Ripken himself took to Twitter to react to the news and congratulated the 24-year-old for breaking his record. The Orioles legend then went on to express how lucky Baltimore is to have the left-fielder on their side.

“Congratulations to Ryan on setting the new O’s rookie home run record. He’s a dynamic player. I wish him nothing but the best and excited to watch him in the years to come. All Orioles fans should be excited that he’s on our team,” Ripken wrote while sharing the video of the record-breaking home run by Mountcastle.

The Orioles are currently 47-100 on the season after their latest defeat to the Boston Red Sox on Friday. And while it has been years of losing season after losing season for the team, that shouldn't remove the fact that  Ryan Mountcastle is putting up absurd numbers for the team.

As Cal Ripken suggested, the future looks bright for the team with Ryan rising to superstar status.
