The long national nightmare is over. At 2:00 (eastern) on May 13 (today, the time of this writing), it'll go down: Pac-12 announce new commissioner!
Rumors are all over the place without a confirmed leak yet in sight.
Pac-12 announce new commissioner news
Oliver Luck was actually one of the names rumored to be joining the fold, but given his firm is attempting to get involved with the NCAA's NIL push — or, really, adjustment to state laws — it would seem unlikely he'd get the gig. After all, numerous conference commissioners outside the Pac-12 have already advocated for NIL-firms to not have direct connections to any college or league.
While they are only jokes, on social media people are speculating that the Pac-12 commissioner will end up being a Netflix or Hulu executive — or basically anyone who is not directly connected to the league or has a sports background.
We're only mere hours away from finding out. This is an absolute must-be-good-hire for the Pac-12, as recent TV deals, structuring of schedules, and the like have all been disastrous the last few years. Even college basketball fanatics, who used to eat and sleep Pac-12 After Dark, are starting to vanish like they're cast members of The 4400.
