The Indiana Pacers are set to play in the NBA play-in tournament with a big goal of making it in as the no. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. In order to make that happen, they will have to beat the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night and then face and defeat the loser of the Boston Celtics vs. Washington Wizards play-in game.

While the odds may seem stacked against them, the Pacers are a talented basketball team who could pull off two straight wins to get into the playoffs.

Nate Bjorkgren has been a hot name over the past couple of weeks since news broke about the unrest between him and the Pacers' roster. Reports stated that his future with the team could be in jeopardy.

Despite all of the rumors, the Pacers are focused solely on their play-in matchup with the Hornets.

However, should the team fail to make the postseason and Kevin Pritchard set his eyes on planning for the offseason, moving on from Bjorkgren might be on their list of things to do.

All of that being said, let's take a closer look at the situation and whether or not the Pacers could look to move on from Bjorkgren after just one season.

Is Pacers Coach Nate Bjorkgren Coaching For His Job Against The Hornets?

Pacers, Domantas Sabonis, Myles Turner, Nate Bjorkgren, TJ Warren, Malcolm Brogdon

The quick answer to this question is … absolutely not.

Whether the Pacers win or lose this game, the decision on Bjorkgren has likely already been made. If the reports about Bjorkgren losing the locker room in his first season are true, then it seems like a forgone conclusion that he will be relieved of his coaching duties following the season.

On the other hand, players have spoken out against all of the rumors that were reported recently. Players aren't going to come out and agree with the reports, but they certainly don't have to come out and speak strongly against them.

Part of the report had to do with Pacers' high-scoring forward TJ Warren undergoing surgery on his foot so that he didn't have to play for Bjorkgren, whom he has had past experiences with. Warren did not take long to come out and refute the rumors, as we have previously covered.

Following the Pacers' last regular season game, a win over the Toronto Raptors, point guard TJ McConnell came out in support of Bjorkgren.

“I was upset because it’s just not true. I think it’s pretty unfair what was written about him. … I got his back, I know all the players in this locker room have his back and that shows by how we’ve played,” McConnel said, per Scott Agness of FieldHouse Files.

Indiana finished the regular season with a 34-38 record, good enough for ninth place in the Eastern Conference. Bjorkgren may or may not be the head coach for the Pacers next season, but Tuesday night's matchup with the Hornets won't impact their decision much. It all comes down to what the reality of the locker room actually is at this point in time.

Throughout the course of the season, Bjorkgren showcased major positive qualities with his approach to the game. He also had quite a few blunders that most first-year head coaches suffer through. But it's hard to judge a coach based on his first and only season as a head coach in the NBA.

Expect to continue hearing rumors about the Pacers as the offseason comes closer. Nate Bjorkgren is absolutely on the hot seat, but a play-in game is not something that will carry major weight with it. Indiana has some tough decisions to make and it will all start with whether or not they want to make a coaching change.
