Corey Joseph is moving on to the Sacramento Kings. Before closing this latest chapter of his career, though, the veteran guard went out of his way to the thank the Indiana Pacers for “two great years.”

“Thank you Pacers for 2 great years playing for your organization. Shout out to all of the amazing fans in Indy, you will be missed! I look forward to seeing you again in the season ahead. Much love and respect,” Joseph wrote on Twitter.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Joseph has agreed to sign a three-year, $37 million deal with the Sacramento Kings in free agency, ending his time with the Pacers. Joseph was acquired by Indiana during the summer of 2017 in a sign-and-trade with the Toronto Raptors. He signed a four-year, $30 million deal with the Raptors in 2015, ensuring he would be on the open market this summer.

Joseph averaged 6.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game for Indiana last season, shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 32.2 percent from beyond the arc. A notoriously inconsistent shooter, he struggled from an efficiency perspective in 2018-19, but made his presence felt every time he stepped on the floor regardless due to his ability to lock up opposing ball handlers. His rare defensive talent makes him a snug fit for the Kings, who until now lacked a perimeter “stopper” for their rebuild to respectability.

Joseph will come off the bench behind rising-star De'Aaron Fox and ever-improving sharp-shooter Buddy Hield, but should nevertheless see plenty of playing time going forward as Sacramento's third guard.
