The Indiana Pacers have been busy throughout the first day of free agency. Kevin Pritchard was able to sign both Malcolm Brogdon and Jeremy Lamb soon after free agency and they have made a third move.

According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pacers have agreed to a three-year contract with Edmond Sumner.

It has been expected for a few days now that Indiana would get something done with Sumner. He has a lot of talent, but has a lot of work to do. Giving him a long-term contract and financial stability is a good and respectable move for the franchise to make.

Last season with the Pacers, Sumner received some playing time. He played sparingly and the games were few and far between, but he did rack up some NBA experience. Sumner ended up playing in 23 games and started two of them.

Sumner ended up averaging 2.9 points per game and chipped in 1.0 rebounds. He had a couple of noteworthy games, including a 17-point game vs. the Los Angeles Lakers and a 22-point game in the season finale against the Atlanta Hawks. Those games showed flashes of talent that Indiana wants to continue developing.

Pritchard and company are a standup group of guys and made rewarding Sumner a priority. Indiana may find a bigger role for him in 2019-20.
