With the Indiana Pacers set to get back to action on Friday night at home against the Atlanta Hawks, the team announced some great news — shooting guard Glenn Robinson III was cleared to play in this upcoming game.

Robinson had missed the entire season so far after he had surgery on his left ankle back in October. The road to recovery has been tough for the 24-year-old guard, but he says that he's ready to get back to game action on Friday.

“It's tough. I think this is my first real injury, so to be able to go through all that and not play in a game for nine months because I missed the whole season so far is tough,” Robinson said. “It's definitely a challenging thing, but mentally I think I'm in a great spot. Just been anxious to get on the court again, especially with this team with as much fun as they have and the chemistry that we all have in the locker room.”

Pacers head coach Nate McMillan told reporters after today's practice that he was pleased with how Robinson looked out on the court.

“He had a good practice. He had a good break and got a lot of work in during the break. He came out in his first practice with the team and looked really good,” coach McMillan said on Wednesday. “We'll look at him tomorrow, but we do anticipate that he’ll be available for Friday.”

In 67 games played for Indiana last season, Robinson averaged 6.1 points on 46.7 percent shooting from the field and 3.6 rebounds per game in 20.7 minutes of action per contest. Coach McMillan will likely probably only give Robinson limited minutes at first, but it's great to hear that he's ready for game action during a time when the Pacers (33-25) are playing really well as a team.
