The good news keeps on coming for the Indiana Pacers. Not only are they 16-11 on the season and have seemingly unearthed a new star in Victor Oladipo, but they’ve also been awarded the right to host the 2021 NBA All-Star Game, the 70th edition of the event.

This marks the first time the NBA All-Star Game will return to the Hoosier state since 1985 when it was held in the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis. Indiana also hosted the third-ever All-Star game, although it was held in Fort Wayne.

The 2021 weekend festivities will be held in Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, home of the Pacers. Before coming to Indiana, the All-Star Game will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles this year, the Spectrum Center in Charlotte in 2019, and the United Center in Chicago in 2020.

Oladipo is in line to make his first-ever All-Star team this year with his fine performances in his debut season with the Pacers. The shooting guard, who was a centerpiece in the Paul George-to-Oklahoma City trade, is averaging a career-high 24.5 points on 44 percent shooting from long distance, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.8 steals, 1.1 blocks per game.

While 2021 is still a long time away, Victor Oladipo is perhaps the Pacers’ best shot at a representative when the All-Star Game comes to Indiana in a few years’ time.
