The Indiana Pacers were defeated soundly by the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night by a final score of 104-93. In the third quarter, when the Pacers were down by 21, assistant coach Greg Foster had to be restrained as he went at second-year big man Goga Bitadze.

It’s unclear exactly what happened that raised Foster’s ire, but whatever the reason, this is certainly a bad look for Indiana just a day after Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that the Pacers are pondering removing head coach Nate Bjorkgren unless he is able to regain control of the locker room.

The Pacers came into the 2020-21 season with high expectations, but so far, the team has failed to live up to them. Sure, they have been bitten by the injury bug at various times this campaign, but the franchise’s firing of head coach Nate McMillan in favor of the untested Bjorkgren is so far looking looking like a whiff–as McMillan has the Atlanta Hawks in contention for the playoffs.

Currently, the Pacers are locked in a tight race for the ninth and 10th seed with the Washington Wizards. Of course, Indiana expected to be firmly in the playoff race for home court after finishing fourth in the East last season with a 45-28 record (before being summarily dispatched in four games in the playoffs by eventual Eastern Conference champions, the Miami Heat).
