The Indiana Pacers and their much-improved offense did quite a number on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, as the Pacers spanked the Cavs, 124-107 in Cleveland. When doing so, they accomplished something no other team; not even the mighty Golden State Warriors, have ever done against a James-led team in the regular season.

That terrific performance against the defending Eastern Conference champs is further proof of the incredible improvement the Pacers have made offensively this season. Three players went for 23 or more points against the Cavs, while their other two starters had at least 15 points.

The Pacers are currently ranked No. 3 in terms of offensive efficiency, and they’re doing it without one of their best players in Myles Turner, who remains sidelined with a concussion.

However, it also speaks to the sheer disarray James and the Cavs have been in defensively to start the season. They are second from bottom in the league in defensive efficiency and are now set to lose arguably their top defender, Tristan Thompson, for a month with a calf injury.

If James and the Cavs don’t find a way to solve their pressing defensive issues soon, it may not be long until they allow another opponent the type of prolific offensive performance like the Pacers just had against them.
