It appears the Indiana Pacers want to stay in the stay for a little bit longer. About 25 more years to be exact. According to Chris Sikich of the IndyStar, the Pacers are working on a deal with the state that would keep the team in Indiana for another 25 years.

The current deal has the Pacers staying in Indiana through 2024. While that may seem a long ways away, it's smart to work on a deal sooner rather than later. The longer the city waits, the more suitors the Pacers would get. An NBA team is something many cities would love to have, and would definitely make a push for. Seattle, for one, is an obvious city clamoring for a team.

The deal would help bring the Pacers funding to make upgrades to Bankers Life Fieldhouse (the Pacers stadium). That's something the Pacers have been talking about doing for the last few years, so there's a nice incentive for them to stay.

However, there do seem to be a few issues that not everyone will see eye-to-eye on.

Things such as taxes and certain amenities and incentives could come in to play when people are discussing if it's worth it.

Of course, it will be worth it. Having an NBA team in your city will bring in money, bottom line.

The Pacers have been in Indiana since 1967 – the year the team was created. Due to that, and the fact that they still have five more years on their contract – it's easy to envision them working out a deal to stay in state.

Despite that, there's always going to be rumblings when a the end of a team's deal is in sight. 2024 isn't that far away. With that in mind, you could excuse people for starting to wonder what the future of the team, and the city, holds when a new deal is being discussed.

Now only time will tell if the deal is complete. If it is, no one will have to wonder about where the Indiana Pacers will be playing for a long time.
