Former Kentucky Wildcat Alex Poythress has graduated from being a two-way player to an NBA full-timer for the Indiana Pacers. According to a report from the NBA’s official website, Poythress has been signed by the Indiana Pacers to a contract, though no other specific details about the deal were released.

The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday they have signed forward Alex Poythress to a contract. Per team policy, terms were not revealed.

As a two-way player prior to signing his new deal with the Pacers, Poythress was shifting back and forth from Indiana to the team’s NBA G League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. In 11 games played for the Pacers this season, the 6-foot-9 Poythress has come up with averages of only 0.9 points and 0.7 rebounds.

Poythress played four years for Kentucky in college and averaged 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in his entire stint in Lexington. Upon graduation, he applied for the 2016 NBA Draft but went undrafted. The 24-year-old small forward signed with the Philadelphia 76ers last April and played six games for the team, averaging 10.7 points on 26.2 minutes.

In Indiana, Poythress will likely just be just a depth insurance, but should still see some extra playing time while Glenn Robinson remains sidelined with an ankle injury.
