Lance Stephenson was “99 percent” set to sign a deal with the Indiana Pacers before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the NBA to suspend play in March, per Adam Zagoria of Forbes.

Stephenson is currently training in Indianapolis, but he wishes he were in Orlando, Florida for the NBA restart with the Pacers.

“Yeah, definitely, I wanted to play in Orlando,” Lance Stephenson said.

“My goal is just to shape in shape, stay working, stay ready for next season. I’ve been watching the games. They look different but just to be able to play and compete is always a blessing for me. I feel like any situation, I can play in any type of condition.”

Stephenson was in “strong talks” to return to the Pacers right before the pandemic hit. The guard was awaiting clearance from his Chinese team and FIBA to return to the NBA.

The man they call “Born Ready” played for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018-19. He appeared in 68 games and averaged 7.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

With no NBA deal in place last summer, Stephenson signed a contract with the Liaoning Flying Leopards in China. While he enjoys playing overseas, Stephenson is anxious to return to the NBA and it appears he wants to play for the Pacers, again.

In 298 career games with the Pacers, Stephenson has averages of 9.1 points and 3.1 assists. The fans in Indiana love the Brooklyn native and would be thrilled if Stephenson came back to the team for his third stint with the franchise.

Once the 2020 offseason period starts, we'll see if the Pacers and Stephenson can agree upon a deal.
