Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner has a ton of confidence in himself, especially in what he brings on the defensive end. After turning away seven shots in Indiana's 109-94 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, Turner claimed during his post-game interview that he has “the highest impact defensively in the league.”

Via Fox Sports Indiana:

Turner is almost channeling his inner Draymond Green out there. Just as Turner said, the Golden State Warriors forward may not provide much on the scoreboard, but still has a huge impact defensively for the Dubs.

Turner definitely showed just how big of an impact he can have just on the defensive end of the floor on Friday. He didn't provide much on the other aspects of the game, as he scored just seven points and grabbed just seven rebounds. Nonetheless, his interior presence not only showed up on the stat sheet seven times, but altered multiple shots from Dallas inside the paint.

With his statement, looks like the Pacers big man has his sights set on the likes of Rudy Gobert, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and even Ben Simmons and verbally turned in his entry into the Defensive Player of the Year conversation. The 6-foot-11 shot blocking specialist definitely makes a strong case.

Turner leads the NBA in blocks, averaging 3.5 swats a night and amassing a total of 144 blocks on the season so far. Furthermore, he ranks no. 5 in Defensive Win Shares this season and is at no. 8 in terms of Defensive Box Plus-Minus, per Basketball Reference.

The Pacers have won four of their last five and much of their success is in large part due to Turner's play defensively. The 24-year old played in those four wins, but sat out in the lone game they lost during this stretch. In those four W's, Turner was a monster on defense, sending away a total of 20 shots.
