The Indiana Pacers remain hot even with the injury bug ravaging the team's roster. As a result, the Eastern Conference franchise recently added the services of former New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Wesley Matthews.

Matthews, who has finally found a home in Indiana's starting lineup, is not going unnoticed in the Pacers' locker room early in his tenure with the team. Pacers center Myles Turner is especially impressed with Matthews' aggressiveness as a shooter.

“We were telling him, ‘Shoot!'” Turner recently said, via NBA.com. “He was trying too hard to fit in and get guys going. He's got to be himself. He's going to be aggressive the rest of the season, there's no doubt in my mind.”

Of course, despite the veteran presence of Matthews, the Pacers still miss the services of All-Star guard Victor Oladipo, who will be sidelined for the remainder of the year due to a season-ending injury.

“We obviously miss Vic, but Wes is able to step in right away and have an impact because of the things he does,” Turner added in regards to the insertion of Matthews for an All-Star in Oladipo.

As it stands today, the Pacers currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference standings, behind only the Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors.

The 38-19 Pacers, who won't be getting back the aforementioned Oladipo this season, now find themselves just 4.5 games out of first place in the Eastern Conference, though neither the Bucks nor the Raptors have shown any signs of slowing down.
