Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner will make his return to the court tonight against the Philadelphia 76ers, according to the team.
Turner suffered a concussion during a high-octane showdown against the Brooklyn Nets in the season-opener and has been under the protocol ever since. Domantas Sabonis has filled admirably at his position, switching to power forward from time to time and leading the team in field goal percentage after having three perfect outings from the field through eight games in the season.
“We'll bring Myles off the bench, he is playing tonight,” said head coach Nate McMillan. “We'll just watch him out there carefully, he hasn't really played any five-on-five and we feel we can slowly work him in.”
Turner managed a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds along with four blocks during his season debut, and while he's expected to be a major contributor, the team is expected to bring him up slowly as he gears into playing shape.
The 21-year-old is expected to carry the torch for the team after the departure of Paul George, but will now count with excellent working pieces around him in Sabonis and the hot-shooting Victor Oladipo. The Pacers (5-3) have won four out of their last five games, as well as their last three, expecting to carry the streak into the Wells Fargo Center tonight.
