Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner clearly wants to be the Defensive Player of the Year.

On Tuesday against the Charlotte Hornets, Turner registered a career-high eight blocks, stamping his claim that he might be the best shot blocker in the league today.

Turner came into Tuesday averaging 1.9 blocks per game. The Pacers big man led the NBA in blocks per game (2.7) and total blocks (199) last season. He thought he should have won the Defensive Player of the Year Award instead of Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert, who is the reigning two-time winner.

There is still time left in 2019-20 for Myles Turner to establish himself as the best defensive player in the game and bring some hardware back to the Pacers facility.

Meanwhile, with Turner anchoring the defense, Indiana bounced back big time from their embarrassing defeat against the Toronto Raptors last Sunday. The Pacers remain sixth in the Eastern Conference standings, albeit now boasting a 34-24 record after beating the Hornets 119-80.
