Not every big man can shoot it from deep like Kevin Durant, but that doesn’t mean they won’t try to develop a deft touch from long range. Take for example Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner, who seems to be adding a consistent 3-point shot to his arsenal, as seen from this clip of a pick-up game via Ball is Life.

One scary takeaway from the video, apart from Turner actually shooting the ball well from distance, is that the Pacers center is draining shots off the dribble and off pull-ups. Turner is a career 34.6 percent 3-point shooter on 0.5 makes per 1.4 attempts per game, but he’s probably going to take more shots from behind the rainbow line starting next season. It’s still up to Pacers head coach Nate McMillan whether to let Turner do that on a consistent basis, but in today’s game, every team needs a dynamic center who can deal offensive damage inside and outside the arc.

Still, McMillan has to keep harmony on offense in mind, as he can’t just let Turner rob some shots that are normally taken by the guards and swingmen. Turner will just have to pick his opportunities, especially with the Pacers adding another shooter on their roster in Doug McDermott this offseason.

The Pacers didn’t have great outside shooting last season. Although they were eighth in the league with a 36.8 percent 3-point shooting, they were only 25th in 3-pointers made and 26th in 3-point attempts.
