The Indiana Pacers are currently right in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race. They currently sit in fifth place and are 2.5 games clear of the Miami Heat who are in eighth place.

The Pacers improved their team on Saturday night signing Trevor Booker to a contract for the rest of this season, and hopefully a long playoff run.

This will be the third team of the year for Booker. He started out the season with the Brooklyn Nets before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in a deal that sent Jahlil Okafor to the state of New York.

He wasn't on the Sixers for too long, though, before he was released earlier this week to make room for Ersan Ilyasova. Once Booker cleared waivers, he was able to sign with Pacers.

In 18 games with the Nets, Booker averaged 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. His stats did go down to only 4.7 points per game with the Sixers but he wasn't such a focal point with them, and his playing time did go down a good bit.

Booker hasn't ever really had stats that pop off the page, but he has been a good role player for most of his career, and that should be the case again with the Pacers.

He gives them a veteran presence off the bench who will give 110 percent all the time. It really isn't clear how many minutes per game the Pacers are looking to give Booker, but it wouldn't be much of a surprise if he eventually carves a rotation spot for himself.
