Indiana Pacers forward TJ Warren has officially been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing foot surgery, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

This is a huge blow for the Pacers fans who probably saw Warren at his best in the NBA bubble.  In just four games this year, the 27-year-old averaged 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. Warren was anticipated to be a huge part of the rotation this season.

Indiana will miss Warren moving forward. Not only does he lessen the workload of All-Star Domantas Sabonis but he also provides in scoring and spacing for the Pacers. That’s one less starting forward out of their rotation again—will the Pacers ever compete with a complete roster? Without Warren, Sabonis, Caris Lavert, and Malcolm Brogdon will have to carry the offense of the team.

The Pacers have had a mediocre season, to say the least. They’re currently ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 20-23. Warren, who led the Pacers in scoring last season with 19.8 points per game, will tremendously be missed especially at this time where Sabonis and crew try to work their way up the standings. Last season, the Pacers were in fourth place but ended up folding to the Miami Heat in four games during the playoffs.

Warren is under contract with the Pacers through one more season. He had a season-ending surgery as well for a stress fracture in 2016 in his tenure with the Phoenix Suns. Warren has experienced the injury bug in his career but would always return to top form right after.
