On the same day the Indiana Pacers saw Myles Turner return after a long absence due to a concussion, the team seems to be dealing with another injury to another one of their power forwards.

That’s rookie big man T.J. Leaf, who unfortunately sprained his ankle during Friday’s 121-110 road loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Before leaving the contest, Leaf had played in just six minutes and recorded only two points, one rebound, and a steal.

Leaf has seen some increased time under the sun of late due to Turner’s absence but with the former Texas Longhorn back in harness, Leaf will likely fall completely off the Pacers’ regular rotation even if he gets healthy just in time for Monday’s matchup against the New York Knicks.

Leaf has slid down to third-string status even before his injury, however, with Domantas Sabonis having quite a breakout stretch in the brief time Indiana head coach Nate McMillan handed him the starting four-spot role.

On the season, Leaf is averaging 6.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
