Indiana Pacers forward TJ Warren plans to undergo surgery on a stress fracture in his left foot, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Warren, 27, has no timeline to return as the seven-year veteran small forward is out indefinitely.

Warren joined the Pacers before the 2019-20 season via a trade with the Phoenix Suns, his NBA home for the first five seasons of the NC State product's professional career. After averaging 14.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game with Phoenix, Warren made a splash with the Pacers in his first season, particularly playing standout basketball during the seeding games and playoffs in the NBA bubble in Orlando.

Warren averaged 19.8 points and 4.2 rebounds in 32.9 minutes per game, shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 40.3 percent from 3-point range during the 2019-20 campaign in Indiana.

The Pacers small forward reportedly was dealing with plantar fasciitis before the season started, ultimately appearing in four games Indiana before getting shut down and now heading to the operating room.

Indiana had already been reeling for the past year-plus with the recovery of All-Star guard Victor Oladipo, who returned in Jan. 2020 from a quad injury suffered a year prior. Oladipo had a bumpy return from the injury, as the Pacers relied heavily on first-time All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis, who continues to tear the NBA at the start of the 2020-21 season.

Fortunately for the Pacers, the team is rather deep in spite of the blow of losing Warren. Indiana will find minutes at small forward to replace Warren with players like Justin Holiday and Doug McDermott, who strong perimeter shooters to help Sabonis and center Myles Turner.
