By emblazoning his shoes with the image of Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller, Pacers forward Trevor Booker earned some sort of a right to get mentioned in the same sentence as the Hall of Fame sharpshooter.

In a recent Twitter post, Booker revealed his unique pair of kicks which is adorned by a graphic that shows Miller’s famous “choke sign” during a playoff game against the New York Knicks over 20 years ago.

Booker is not preempting the Pacers’ entry in the playoffs with his caption, as his team has already clinched a spot in this year’s postseason. The only question for the Pacers left is which team they will face in the first round of the postseason. Although it would be nice to see Booker lace up his new kicks against the Knicks, that’s not going to happen as New York are not going to be part of the playoffs. Instead, Trevor Booker and the Pacers will face either the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round depending on how things in the Eastern Conference shakes out.

For those probably too young to remember, Miller’s choke sign happened way back in Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals between the Pacers and the Knicks, when Miller led Indiana to a victory after being down by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter. Before leaving the court, Reggie Miller turned to Knicks celebrity fan and film director Spike Lee to remind him of New York’s colossal chokejob.
