The Indiana Pacers are without their All-Star player Victor Oladipo due to a lingering knee injury. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, however, the superstar guard is expected to return in the “near future.”

“Pacers All-Star guard Victor Oladipo (sore right knee) is still working himself back into game condition and is expected to return in the near future, league sources tell ESPN. There are no structural issues with his knee.”

Oladipo was a solid player in his first four years in the league, but he didn't break out as a superstar until he arrived in Indiana last season. The shooting guard can play at an elite level on both ends of the floor. Not to mention, he nearly led the Pacers to a first-round playoff victory over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers last year.

The Pacers are off to a strong start this season despite the fact that Oladipo hasn't played in six games. Head coach Nate McMillan has managed to keep his squad afloat during that time. The Pacers are 3-3 without Oladipo and they sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 13-9 record.

The bench is picking things up for Indiana in Oladipo's absence. Domantas Sabonis, Aaron Holiday and Doug McDermott, in particular, have brought some life to the lineup. The three are shouldering much of the scoring load on a very balanced team top to bottom.

If Oladipo can come back healthy, it should give the Pacers an even bigger shot of life as they continue to cement themselves as a contender in the East.
