The Indiana Pacers have announced that star shooting guard Victor Oladipo will be out indefinitely as he continues to deal with a sore right knee.

Victor Oladipo has missed the previous six games. The 26-year-old is averaging 21.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from beyond the arc and 71.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pacers have gone 4-3 without Oladipo, but it's going to be difficult to sustain that level of play without their best player and shot creator.

Victor Oladipo was acquired by the Pacers from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Paul George trade. He won the 2017-18 Most Improved Player of the Year award. As the main option on offense in Indiana last year, Oladipo averaged 23.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists, shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from the three-point line.

The previous year with the Thunder, Oladipo posted only 15.9 points.

Victor Oladipo and the Pacers won 48 games last year in the regular season, but lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first-round of the playoffs in seven games. With LeBron James in the West now, the Pacers, with Oladipo leading the way, were expected to be a contender in the conference. Indiana is still a good team, but without Oladipo, they can't go anywhere deep in the postseason. Hopefully this isn't a long-term injury and that he can return healthy.
