Indiana Pacers shooting guard Victor Oladipo says he's hungrier now than he was when he first got to the team last summer.

Oladipo was traded to the Pacers in the Paul George deal, and the electric guard took advantage of being the No. 1 offensive option in Indiana. Oladipo was named the 2017-18 Most Improved Player. He averaged 23.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in the regular season, shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from 3.

The Eastern Conference should be prepared to see an even more dangerous version of Oladipo this season, as the 26-year-old has changed his mindset when it comes to the game of basketball, saying he pushes the envelope as opposed to playing it safe like he did earlier in his career.

“I’m still hungry,” Oladipo told Scott Agness of The Athletic. “I think I’m hungrier now than I was when I first got here. I want to be great. I’ve been saying that since I walked into this facility and started being a Pacer. I want to be one of the greatest to ever play this game. Whatever I got to do to do that, I’m going to try my best to achieve that in the process of winning. That’s the goal.”

Victor Oladipo and the Pacers won 48 games in 2017-18. Indiana made it to the playoffs as the fifth seed in the East, but lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round in seven games. The early exit fueled Oladipo in his summer workouts.

Oladipo's coach, Nate McMillan, wants his star player to remain hungry because he knows a hungry Oladipo will take the team to new heights in 2018-19.

“I think that’s the biggest thing,” McMillan said. “Staying hungry and wanting to get to the next level — and the next level for him is with team’s game-planning, can you still be productive? Can you still lead your team? Because they’re going to make it harder on you. He certainly has the talent and I’m excited to work him to show his growth and get to that next level.”

Now that LeBron James is out West, the Pacers have a chance to make a run in the East, with Oladipo leading the way.
