Before Paul George was ultimately dealt to the Oklahoma City Thunder, he was included in a lot of trade chatter that linked him with the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. However, mod pundits didn't know he could've ended up with the recently crowned champions, the Golden State Warriors, if they agreed to the offer the Indiana Pacers made to them.

The 27-year-old Fresno State product made an appearance on Thursday's episode of The Woj Pod with ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. He confirmed that he knew about his former team wanting to exchange his services for Klay Thompson. A deal did not push through when the Dubs declined their offer, as they were not interested in parting ways with their starting shooting guard.

From Brett Dawson of NewsOK:

George said he was aware of the proposed trade, and compared it to the 2011 trade that would have sent Chris Paul to the Lakers. Then-NBA commissioner David Stern famously vetoed that trade.

It would've been very intriguing to see George bring his talents to Oakland, but with Kevin Durant playing the same natural position as him, it was easy to understand why the Warriors opted to stay put with their core instead. In the process, they have also prevented any chemistry issues from happening; the trade could've disrupted their focus on winning another title next year.

As it turned out, the four-time All-Star forward will have a chance to play with this year's MVP, Russell Westbrook, and make a lot of noise in the West. Although the Warriors are still the favorites to win their conference, on paper, the Thunder have closed the gap at least a bit. With Brodie and PG13 leading their charge, they have two legitimate stars that have the ability to take over games.
