The Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears by a score of 10-3 in their season opener on Thursday night behind a phenomenal performance from their new-look defense.

It marks the second straight year the Packers have begun their season with a Week 1 win over the Bears, but this time around, the victory came at Soldier Field rather than in Wisconsin.

Obviously, this is an enormous win for Green Bay, even if it's just the first game of the season.

So, here are the three biggest performances from the Packers' Week 1 triumph over their NFC North rivals:

3. Blake Martinez

Blake Martinez was one of the few bright spots on Green Bay's defense last year, racking up 144 tackles, five sacks and three passes defended.

Well, he came up big yet again on Thursday evening, leading the Packers with seven tackles and adding a sack in the process.

The difference this time around is that Martinez now actually has some support in the linebacking corps, as Green Bay added Preston Smith and Za'Darius Smith during the offseason.

Martinez was originally selected by the Packers in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and has posted over 140 tackles in each of the last two seasons.

He certainly got off on the right foot in 2019 on Thursday.

2. Adrian Amos

Of course, it had to be the former Bears safety who made the biggest defensive play of the game.

Adrian Amos picked off Mitchell Trubisky in the end zone late in the fourth quarter in what proved to be a game-sealer, as he finished his night with three tackles to go along with that pick.

Chicago let Amos walk this offseason, and Green Bay pounced immediately, signing the defensive back to a four-year deal.

The move is already paying dividends, as Amos is bringing some skill and some toughness to a Packers secondary that desperately needed it. It also helps that he probably knows the Bears offense pretty well.

Amos is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he registered 73 tackles, a sack, a couple of interceptions, nine passes defended and a fumble recovery.

Now five years into this NFL career, Amos is yet to make a Pro Bowl, but make no mistake: he is one of the better safeties this league has to offer.

1. Preston Smith

I cannot believe there are no offensive players on this list. This is the Packers we are talking about, after all.

Nevertheless, here we are.

Smith, one of Green Bay's biggest additions this offseason, had a huge night, wreaking havoc with five tackles and 1.5 sacks.

The linebacker was all over the field during the win, making an immediate impact along with the other Smith, Za'Darius, who added a sack of his own.

Both Smiths did an incredible job of applying pressure to Mitchell Trubisky against what is a generally solid Bears offensive line, but it was Preston who stole the show.

The 26-year-old spent the first four seasons of his career with the Washington Redskins and has always been a fine pass rusher, as he totaled 24.5 sacks during his tenure with the club.

Now, he is bringing some of that ferocity to Green Bay.
