Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is entering his third year in the NFL, and in each of his first two seasons, he suffered knee injuries that limited him to 12 games both times.

As a result, some people may be overlooking Jones heading into 2019, and the halfback certainly feels that is the case:

“I feel like I’m slept on a little bit, but I’ve been an underdog my whole life,” said Jones, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.

Jones is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he rushed for 728 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging a league-best 5.5 yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 26 receptions for 206 yards and a score.

Had he been able to stay healthy, Jones may very well have finished with 1,000 yards, which is why there are some people who are considering him a sleeper going into this season.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at UTEP, was originally selected by the Packers in the fifth round (182nd pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He had a relatively quiet rookie year, finishing with 448 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, registering 5.5 yards per attempt.

One thing is for sure: Jones has undoubtedly been a very efficient running back over his first couple of seasons, so if he can stay on the field, he could be in for a big year in 2019.

Green Bay went a disappointing 6-9-1 this past season, marking the first time since 2006 that the Packers missed the playoffs in back-to-back campaigns.
