The Green Bay Packers were one win away from punching their ticket to Super Bowl LIV before laying another egg against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship. Multiple players have since chalked up their performance simply to a lack of preparation.

Running back Aaron Jones said during an appearance on PFT Live that he does not see that as an excuse for the Packers.

“I don’t have any excuses, you just gotta be ready to play ball,” Jones said. “A trip’s a trip. Teams take trips every week. I don’t use that as an excuse. I was ready to play ball, I’m always ready to play ball.”

Jones' comments are certainly understandable. While there has been plenty of talk regarding rookie head coach Matt LaFleur's ability to get the Packers ready for the big stage, he indicates that the onus ultimately falls on the players to make sure they show up.

It is not as if the Packers needed any more motivation to come out and compete. They had largely been overlooked as a bonafide championship contender throughout the 2019 NFL season largely due to the thrashing at the hands of the 49ers during the regular season. Although many were expecting to see them hyped to get their revenge in the playoffs, it just resulted in a similar outcome.

The Packers will have some major adjustments they need to make in the offseason if they hope to bounce back and potentially finish the job in the 2020 NFL season. Regardless, it will not matter much if this team is not ready to compete when the stakes are at their highest.
