Tuesday, July 3, 2018, represents the day before Independence Day in the United States of America. This means it's, for all intents and purposes, a Friday in the world of online news media. It's garbage dump day and the NFL is taking advantage by announcing a swell of suspensions.

One such suspension includes Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones who's been tagged with a two-game ban for violating the league's substance abuse policy, via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“Suspension Tuesday: Packers’ RB Aaron Jones suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2018 regular season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.”

Jones, 23, was literally just speaking about the progress he's made from year one to transition to his sophomore campaign. Now, he'll have to wait until Week 3 to get his season off the ground.

As a fifth-round choice circa the 2017 NFL Draft, Jones has pleasantly surprised the Pack. In 12 games dressed and four started a season ago, he rushed for a total of 448 yards and four scores on 81 attempts. That put forth a sparkling yards-per-carry number of 5.5.

It looks as though Ty Montgomery and Jamaal Williams will now be forced to carry the load over the first two weeks while Jones sits out.
