The field conditions were not up to league standards in the Packers-Raiders preseason game in Winnipeg. And from the amount of players that were chosen to not return or not play in the game because of those conditions, it's telling as to how bad they really were. They were playing on an 80-yard field that had a hole in the end zone where the CFL goalposts are supposed to be.

The Packers elected to hold out 33 of their players because of these poor conditions. One of those players was starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was vocal about the field by saying that he didn't sit out because of back tightness, but because “it's more the field conditions that we had tonight.”

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur spoke on the great deal of players he chose to sit out.

“We made the adjustments we felt were in the best interest of our football team, and we moved forward. It was a combination of a lot of things I really don’t want to get into right now. It is what it is. They weren’t playing their guys and I just didn’t want to put our guys at risk.”

It's not hard to see why with the amount of players that did play and were injured. The Packers saw rookie pass rusher Rashan Gary, receiver Equanimeous St. Brown, and linebacker Curtis Bolton go down with injuries.

However, Aaron Rodgers will likely end up not playing a single snap throughout preseason play. It will be much-needed rest for the All-Pro quarterback with all of the soreness and injuries he's had over the last couple of seasons.
