With veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson now catching passes from Derek Carr on the West Coast with the Oakland Raiders, the Green Bay Packers and superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers need to adjust. Fortunately, the Packers have a talented wideout in Davante Adams that's willing and waiting to fill the void left by Rodgers' favorite target in the passing game.

Rodgers spoke about Adams this week and what he expects from the player that will likely become the No. 1 option in the passing game, via Ryan Wood of Packers.com.

“He’s going to be looked at as more of the go-to guy outside the building,” Rodgers said. “Naturally, that would probably be the progression for fans to think that way, but I throw it to the open guy. He happens to be open a lot. So I’m sure he’s going to get a lot of opportunities to continue to be that guy.

“He’s just got to continue to improve on what he’s done every year. He’s gotten better every year. If he can play 16 games, he’s a Pro Bowl-caliber receiver.”

Adams has been one of the most consistent players for the Packers over the last two seasons. After his breakout year in 2016 in which he caught a career-high 75 passes for 997 yards and 12 touchdowns, Adams followed it up with another solid campaign last year with 74 catches for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns.

With Nelson now having moved on, Rodgers will almost certainly be looking Adams direction that much more often in 2018. It could be a huge season for the 25-year-old as he could become Rodgers' go-to guy while also making a case to be one of the league's elite wideouts.
