The Green Bay Packers made headlines last week by giving the green light for superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to play in Week 15 versus the Carolina Panthers. The hope was that Rodgers' return could be just what the Packers needed in their final playoff push of the 2017 NFL season.

Unfortunately, they came up short and wound up losing to the Panthers 31-24. As a result, head coach Mike McCarthy may have hinted that Rodgers' playing status for the rest of the year now remains up in the air, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky:

“Well, let's focus on today. We lost the game today,” McCarthy said. “We'll get back, and we'll assess it. We play a game in six days. That's what we're focused on.”

Rodgers struggled for the most part despite throwing for 290 yards and three touchdowns, as his three interceptions proved to be a deciding factor. Of course, such mistakes were expected to happen considering the quick return from his collarbone injury.

That said, the Packers' playoff hopes took a massive blow with this loss. It is likely that a lot will need to happen to even be within striking range of a potential postseason berth. If their chances were to essentially be eliminated after Week 15, then that would leave little reason to proceed with Rodgers at the helm the rest of the way.
