Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers doesn’t expect the team to sign free-agent wide receiver Dez Bryant, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Rodgers’ comments come in response to former Dallas Cowboys tight end and new ESPN Monday Football Analyst Jason Witten saying he thinks Bryant will end up in Gren Bay.

Rodgers believes that it doesn’t make much sense for the Packers to release veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson for cap purposes only to bring in someone like Dez Bryant, who is not in the age range the team is targeting these days and will also be asking for big money.

“Well, we like young receivers, so I'm assuming that's the way they're going to keep going,” Rodgers said. “I don't know why you'd cut Jordy and bring in Dez, but he's a talented player. He's going to end up somewhere. If he ends up here, we'll obviously welcome him with open arms and get him up to speed as quick as possible.”

The Packers haven’t brought in a free-agent receiver after they parted ways win Nelson in March. But they did draft three young wideouts in J’Mon Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Equanimeous St. Brown in the fourth and fifth rounds. They also have tight end Jimmy Graham, who is expected to take on a big role in the receiving game.

The Packers still don’t have a clear No. 3 receiver behind Davante Adams and Randall Cobb. But Rodgers has a knack for getting the best out of his receivers, so they should be just fine even without Bryant's services.
