Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has no problem mentoring the younger QBs. Besides, he thinks it's the role of the veterans to help their position mates develop and become better versions of themselves.

However, there is a catch for Rodgers: the young QBs should at least ask to be mentored and show they want it.

“If they want it,” the Packers star said when asked if veteran quarterbacks should help the young guns, per CBS Sports. “If they want that help.”

The issue about older quarterbacks taking a mentorship role for rookies or the younger signal-callers come after Ryan Tannehill said he won't be guiding Malik Willis after the Tennessee Titans drafted the Liberty product in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Tannehill doesn't feel the need to mentor Willis since they'll be fighting for the same position. However, he did say that the 23-year-old newcomer can learn by watching him.

Aaron Rodgers seems to agree with that second part of Tannehill's comments, noting that he didn't get a lot of mentorship from Brett Favre when he joined the Packers. Nonetheless, he did learn from the team legend by watching him.

“I was in his hip pocket all the time,” Rodgers added. “I was standing behind him in the huddle sometimes, listening to what he was saying before the start of a period. I was sitting in meetings with him, [taking] a ton of notes. I was watching hours of film on Mondays and Tuesdays trying to give him a little advantage for the week if I saw something that might help him in a game.

“I would print out this reports every week. It had all the DB's we were playing and the catches that were against them and the little things I saw on film. I always joked that he just toss them in the bin on the way out. But for me it was the best thing to learn to prepare for a game.”

It looks like Jordan Love is lucky to be playing behind Aaron Rodgers. While the youngster needs to wait more before he gets the chance to start, playing behind an NFL great like Rodgers should only help him when he gets the opportunity to lead his team.
