Despite all the drama surrounding franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers were able to lock up a key piece of their backfield in Aaron Jones. The running back signed a four-year, $48 million deal in mid-March with the Packers which will see him at Lambeau through the 2024 season.

Jones recently spoke on the decision to ultimately stay in Green Bay. By no surprise, he was in contact with Rodgers about his uncertain future, but it never played a part in Jones staying put.

Well, that's some good news for the Packers in this ongoing saga with their MVP QB. Aaron Jones is coming off a solid campaign, rushing for over 1,100 yards while collecting nine TDs. His workload hasn't been massive, but there's a growing belief that Jones could definitely win the RB1 job in 2021.

The Packers meanwhile, will still be hoping they can keep Aaron Rodgers. He made it clear in an interview with ESPN on Monday night that Jordan Love has played no factor in him wanting out of Green Bay. Rodgers also went on to point out that he loves the fanbase, his teammates, and the coaching staff. The clear takeaway: he doesn't see eye to eye with GM Brian Gutekunst.

It will be interesting to see how this saga turns out, but at least the Packers have arguably their best running back locked up for the distant future.
