The Green Bay Packers' journey to this year's NFL playoffs seemed to be over almost as quickly as it started. The return of superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers was spoiled by their heartbreaking 31-24 loss to the formidable Carolina Panthers.

As a result, the Packers have since shut down Rodgers for the rest of the 2017 NFL season. Not surprisingly, head coach Mike McCarthy says the gunslinger is not too thrilled about the decision, according to Ryan Wood Green Bay Press-Gazette

“He's not happy about it. It's a hard day for him. This is not the way any player wants to see the conclusion come for their season. We all understand and appreciate his competitive spirit, but we felt as an organization this was in his best interest.”

The move itself should also come as no surprise considering how hesitant the Packers were on clearing him in the first place. Despite his disappointment, even Rodgers may have seen it coming after admitting the situation was ‘out of his control' following the loss in Week 15.

As one of the fiercest competitors in the game, the fact that he ended his season with a three-interception performance to go with a loss may not be sitting well with Rodgers. However, it goes without saying that this was still one of the obvious choices a team can make.
