The drama between Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former head coach Mike McCarthy has dominated headlines this offseason. It appears Rodgers is now doing what he can to downplay the reports.

There was plenty to unpack from the recent reports about the apparent feud between the two. Rodgers gave some insight on the matter during an appearance on ESPN Milwaukee:

“I will tell you this about Mike… I love Mike McCarthy. Mike has been a huge part of my success and my career… We have had issues. Every long relationship does have issues. But the way we dealt with those issues was face-to-face.”

Rodgers' comments are certainly understandable. There was plenty at stake for both Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy in their roles as head coach and quarterback, which are two of the most notable positions in football. It is only natural that the two would have their fair share of disagreements over the course of 13 years.

Of course, recent reports suggest that their relationship was doomed before it had even started. It began when McCarthy had declared former Alex Smith the best quarterback in the 2005 NFL Draft. This resulted in some bad blood when McCarthy became the head coach in Green Bay the very next season.

Regardless, there is no question that the two enjoyed plenty of success together. Aaron Rodgers emerged into arguably the most talented quarterback of his generation. He and Mike McCarthy were able to lead the Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although their tenure together may not have ended in an ideal fashion, it seems there is no lingering drama between Rodgers and McCarthy.
