Superstar Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers agreed to a record-breaking four-year contract extension with the franchise on Wednesday. The deal set guaranteed money and average annual value records for an NFL player, with over $100 million in guarantees and $33.5 million per year. Even when you factor in the final two years on Rodgers' current contract, he'll be making $900,000 per year more than the next highest paid player, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.

Rodgers, who is now signed with Green Bay until he hits age 40, reacted to his new extension on Instagram before the Packers officially announced the deal. He thanked the franchise's fan base, the organization itself, and all of the teammates he has played with over his 13-year career, all spent with Green Bay.

Since last season, rumors of an extension for Rodgers swirled, but with two years left on his deal in addition to the possibility of the Packers franchise tagging him an additional two years, Green Bay had no real urgency to get a deal done. Still, the organization wanted to reward their future Hall of Fame signal-caller, and they did just that on Wednesday.

After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008 last season, Rodgers and the Packers are looking to take a step forward and get back to competing for a top seed in a stacked NFC. They addressed weaknesses in the secondary at the top of the draft, and although Rodgers' favorite target Jordy Nelson is no longer with the team, free agent addition Jimmy Graham should become a deadly weapon for him in the red zone.
