The Green Bay Packers hope to finish the 2017 NFL season strong with two divisional matchups against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions in consecutive weeks. Unfortunately, the team has already been knocked out of playoff contention with superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers also done for the year.

Rodgers was recently placed on the season-ending injured reserve list by the Packers to avoid any further injury with the playoffs no longer an option. The former NFL MVP wasn't happy with the move by the team, and fortunately for Green Bay, it doesn't appear he needs any more work done on his collarbone, via ESPN's Rob Demosky.

Mike McCarthy said Aaron Rodgers shouldn't need any further procedures on his collarbone. “Aaron's in rest and recovery mode,” McCarthy said. “He has a distinct rehab plan as he moves forward.”

Obviously, this is good news for the Packers with Rodgers' value to the team being shown during the time he missed this season. Green Bay simply isn't a contender nor a playoff-caliber team without their superstar under center, and further procedures may have jeopardized the start of next season.

In the meantime, the Packers will try to play spoiler to the division rival Vikings. Minnesota hopes to lock up a first-round bye in the NFL playoffs with a win over Green Bay and a loss or tie by the Carolina Panthers. Brett Hundley and company can play for pride while hurting Minnesota's chances of an easier path in the postseason.
