Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not been shy about expressing praise for some of the lesser-known names on the roster. It appears wide receiver Allen Lazard has become the new beneficiary.

Lazard has managed to turn heads through training camp and the preseason thus far. According to Lily Zhao of WFRV, Rodgers complimented him on all the signs of promise he has shown.

“He's made a bunch of plays, always showing up on special teams & does the right things in practice. Allen is definitely good enough to be an NFL player. He's had a fantastic training camp.”

The fact that Rodgers went out of his way to sing Lazard's praise is certainly telling of how well he has played. This will certainly go a long in helping him potentially secure a job on a 53-man roster.

The former undrafted free agent spent the bulk of his rookie year with the Jacksonville Jaguars' practice squad before signing with Green Bay late in the season. The big-bodied wideout has shown plenty of explosiveness as of late. He has registered four catches for 90 yards and a touchdown over the first two preseason games.

It is no secret that the Packers have put an emphasis on shoring up their depth in the receiving corps in recent years. As a result, Lazard will have his work cut out trying to compete for snaps with so many other promising players in this group.

Even if he is ultimately unable to make the final cut, Lazard can always use Rodgers' praise as a point of reference for the next team interested in his services.
