Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers is trying to straighten the record regarding his relationship with new head coach Matt LaFleur.

Speaking to former Packers fullback and Super Bowl champion John Kuhn, Rodgers, 35, denounced claims that he hasn't gotten along with the first-year Green Bay coach as “fake news.”

Per The Athletic's Matt Schneidman:

“It’s fake news, John. That’s the media cycle these days. Unfortunately the media, other than obviously yourself, there’s a lack of integrity.”

The two-time MVP Rodgers previously commented on LaFleur's joint practice held with the Houston Texans, telling reporters “I wouldn't mind if they didn't do it for another 14 years.” LaFleur, however, said he'd do it again.

Apparently, for Rodgers, the media took that quote and more as kindling for a negative relationship developing between the rookie head coach and All-Pro QB.

The scrutiny surrounding LaFleur and his introduction to Green Bay alongside Rodgers has been a center storyline in the offseason for the Packers due in part to former head coach Mike McCarthy's unscrupulous departure from the franchise.

After coaching the Pack for 13 seasons, McCarthy lost his job in December 2018 because, reportedly, the start Rodgers was unhappy with the former's performance. After McCarthy was out the door, more comments from Rodgers and the Packers leaked, which included discontented remarks about the coach.

LaFleur, however, enters his first season leading the franchisee after spending the 2017 and 2018 seasons as offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams and Tennessee Titans, respectively. The 39-year-old must keep everybody accountable while simultaneously keeping Rodgers happy.
