The Green Bay Packers' special teams unit was the worst in the NFL all season long, and that came back to bite them in their season-ending 13-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night at Lambeau Field. The Packers had both a punt and field goal blocked, with the blocked punt in the fourth quarter turning into a touchdown that tied the game and totally shifted the momentum.

After the heartbreaking defeat, Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers spoke out about the season-long special teams woes. Needless to say Rodgers wasn't too pleased:

In addition to the blocks, the Packers also only had just 10 men on the field for Robbie Gould's game-winning field goal. While that ultimately might not have mattered anyway, it was just the final cherry on top of a special teams turd sundae. It's hard to see special teams coach Maurice Drayton surviving this debacle, even though head coach Matt LaFleur took the blame after the loss.

Of course, Green Bay's awful special teams wouldn't have mattered if the normally high-powered offense did anything. Rodgers and the Packers laid an egg against the feisty 49ers, scoring just three points after scoring a touchdown on the opening drive. The Packers quarterback put forth a mediocre effort and came up short against the 49ers once again, which has been a theme in his career.

Because of how this game went, this could be it for both Drayton and Rodgers in Green Bay. Rodgers was close to leaving town last offseason, and now there will be plenty of questions about his future once again.
