Throughout all of the drama that's surrounded Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' future with the team over this offseason, Rodgers has built a close relationship with backup QB Jordan Love.

That's because Rodgers, who entered the league as Brett Favre's backup amidst the drama of Favre's uncertain future in Green Bay, knows exactly how Love feels now. Rodgers made sure to be proactive in his communication with Love, as reported by ESPN's Rob Demovsky:

“And then I just reached out; I reached out a number of times [to] check on him [and] see how he's doing,” Rodgers said. “I didn't hold things from him. I let him know where I was at mentally and what I was thinking about. And hopefully he appreciated that.

Though many believed there would be tension between Rodgers and Love, who was picked in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft instead of a position of need for the Packers, Rodgers explained that he has always wanted to keep a close relationship between the two:

“I just felt that's what I would want in that situation, just to hear from the guy. And also, there's a love and an appreciation and a friendship there, just like it was with me and Brett. So I wanted to make sure I checked in with him and let him know I was thinking about him.”

Even despite Rodgers' tumultuous relationship with Favre, the experience he gained while backing up a legendary Hall-of-Fame quarterback gave him the wisdom and headspace to dominate immediately when he entered a starting role.

For Love, getting to both play behind and also build a friendship with another future HOF quarterback could be just what he needs to turn his raw talent into executable performance on the field.

The Packers have always had a penchant for strong QB play, and Love will eventually attempt to continue that tradition. But, for now, Aaron Rodgers remains at the helm.
