The Green Bay Packers may not have much to play for in their final two games, having been eliminated from postseason contention. But that hasn't stopped quarterback Aaron Rodgers from looking to the future, and recently he campaigned through the media for his team to re-sign wide receiver Randall Cobb this offseason.

“We're a better football team when Randall Cobb is on the field, because he's the best slot guy we have. Until somebody can jump up and beat him out of that spot, he needs to be in there making plays for us, hopefully, for years to come.”

The 28-year-old has had an injury-riddled season, playing in just eight games for the Packers and catching 37 passes for 356 yards. But Cobb has been a long-time favorite of Rodgers, having caught at least 60 passes in a season five times since coming into the league in 2011.

Cobb had his best season in 2014, making the Pro Bowl and setting career-highs in receptions (91), receiving yards (1,287), and touchdown catches (12).

Rodgers has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL since becoming Green Bay's starter back in 2008, leading the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2010. But the Packers stumbled to a 7-9 record last season when Rodgers was limited to just seven games on the field.

He has been able to play in all 14 games for the Packers so far in 2018, but is just 5-8-1 in those games. That means Green Bay will finish below .500 for a second straight year, which they hadn't done since 1991 and 1992.
