The Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints square off in a “Sunday Night Football” contest in Week 3. This is a fight between two of the heavy hitters in the NFL.

According to Zach Kruse of USA TODAY Sports' Packers Wire, for superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers, he is viewing this matchup against the Saints as a way see where the Packers are at when it comes to top talent.

“Both the Saints and us have aspirations that, I think, are real. They’re a really talented team, and so are we,” Rodgers said. “This is going to be a good measuring stick for us.

“You know you have to score points against them,” Rodgers said.”

Rodgers has never been one to back down from a challenge. So it is no surprise that the quarterback is looking forward to the challenge that the Saints provide.

While he is not wrong that the Saints are a very talented team—this game is a measuring stick for them as well.

New Orleans is currently 1-1 in the early season. Green Bay is 2-0, though. Not only that, but the Packers have won in convincing fashion in both of their games so far, both against NFC North division rivals as well.

That being said, the Packers always tend to have their detractors. Many will argue that the defense has too many flaws, or the offensive line is not great. The two most popular comments seem to be that the weapons around Rodgers are not good, or that the quarterback himself is in a decline.

So far they have proven everyone wrong though. A win against the Saints could go a long way in silencing any and all doubters left.

Rodgers points out that both the Packers and the Saints have “aspirations” that he believes are real. It feels safe to assume that the quarterback is talking about a run at a Super Bowl ring.

The path to that ring could be going through these two teams in the NFC. So Sunday Night is not only a measuring stick for the Packers, but it could be a statement to the entire league as well.
