The Green Bay Packers surprisingly traded up to select Jordan Love with the No. 26 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, prompting many to believe he's the eventual replacement for Aaron Rodgers. In response to the decision to draft Love, Matt LaFleur exclaimed that Rodgers will decide when his career ends in Green Bay.

When the Packers took Love, it appeared that Green Bay could be trying to push the veteran QB out the door sooner. At 36 years old and four years remaining on his contract, Rodgers hasn't shown any signs of calling it quits anytime soon.

Just this past season, Rodgers threw for 4,002 yards, 26 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Above all, he was able to lead Green Bay to the NFC Championship Game. Despite falling one game short of a Super Bowl appearance, the Packers did an unconvincing job in this year's draft to surround Rodgers with more weapons next season.

LaFleur, who's entering his second season as the team's head coach, understands that the 36-year-old is a legend in Green Bay's history. In addition, he is aware that Rodgers is still capable of being one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Still, the decision to select Love seems to imply that the Packers are looking toward the future after Rodgers is gone. After seeing Tom Brady leave the New England Patriots after 20 seasons, nothing should come as a surprise anymore.

The longtime Packers QB has shared before that he'd like to play into his 40s, meaning that he intends to finish out his current contract. While LaFleur and the Packers are saying that Rodgers controls his own future, only time will tell if that holds true in the coming seasons.
