According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be working out with a rehab group to improve his knee's health in preparation of a Week 2 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

McCarthy also made clear that Rodgers did not suffer a setback to his injured knee, although he did not specify whether Rodgers would be able to practice the rest of the week.

Rodgers led a historic comeback to beat the Chicago Bears 24-23 in Week 1, after trailing by as 20 points. While Rodgers did return from a knee injury and take control of his team's second-half surge, he did not move well when he returned to the game.

The Vikings are one of the talented teams in the NFL when it comes to rushing the quarterback. In fact, it was the Vikings who broke Rodgers' collarbone in the 2017-18 season, causing him to miss a large chunk of the year. If he can't make significant progress this week, it may be too soon to play him against the Vikings.

“I would say it's day by day,” McCarthy said in an interview with Demovsky. “Anytime a player comes off a game where he's injured, obvious there's the hope of playing. He'll be given the whole week to get ready.”

DeShone Kizer replaced Rodgers when he went down last week but wasn't very effective. He completed 4 of 7 passes for 55 yards and one interception before Rodgers returned. The Vikings recorded three sacks in their 24-16 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.

If Rodgers looks gimpy heading into the weekend, it may be in the Packers' best interest to rest him for now to prevent a more serious injury. He means too much to their team to risk his safety.
